Vipassana Meditation Technique: Withdrawal of mind from the external, disturbing objects and peeking within for a deep sense of introspection and a desire to understand the ‘self’ better in order to have heightened awareness is all about Vipassana meditation. The name has been in vogue lately, although the virtues of the specific meditation technique were elucidated by the master-Gautama Buddha- himself.

Vipassana is a specific kind of meditation that is usually undertaken as a procedure. Vipassana enhances peace levels snubbing human emotional evils like stress, frustration, anger and many more. A mere feeling to go on a journey of meditation in itself is half the task realized, practicing what the masters said will place you in the world of peace sooner than later.

There are specific steps involved for practicing Vipassana meditation. In short it is a five-step process. The process has to be undertaken with a pure intention of self-realization and self-transformation. The goal of Vipassana should be a noble one. It should be an aspiration to see the world as a better and a beautiful place to live in peacefully.

The first day (step) of the rigorous process is to clean your senses. You need to commit yourself to keeping away from lies, robbery, lust, ostentation and any other outer or inner evil. It is tough but one needs to exercise a tenacious emotional constraint. Intoxicants need to be kept at bay. The principle behind is to vouch for an impeccable moral conduct which alone makes a person realize ‘true internal peace’.

The second step during Vipassana is to fix one’s attention over breathe. Breathe is the life-force of the human body for that matter any living body with an inherent capacity to move around. Concentrating or focusing all your attention on breathe will cleanse/purify your senses to a great extent. You need to understand the mechanism of breathing. How air enters and leaves your nostrils. The second and third days are to be dedicated to analyse this process alone.

The fourth day will see you as a much calmer and peaceful human being. This is the right time for you to just close your eyes and concentrate upon the rest of the faculties of your body. The brain, the heart etc. This will help you establish harmony with yourself. You will also attain a mastery over your emotions. In simpler words you will not become a slave to your overflowing emotions. You will know how to handle them properly and prudently for smooth functioning of life.

The fifth day or step of Vipassana is to undertake social responsibilities. Do something to others that is soul satisfying. Teaching poor students or feeding the poor or serving the old people or destitutes could satisfy the soul deeply.

The fact that the technique taught by the master has been diligently retained without changing anything endears it to the lovers of meditation.  The tradition is offered to the common man in search of mental peace at some specific meditation center. You will at once know the closest Vipassana center to you if you meticulously do some net browsing. You can even stop by any nearest meditation center to know more about Vipassana. Vipassana camps are usually held for a period of a week or fortnight. You need to stay at the camp to learn the tradition better.

If traveling becomes a constraint then practice the above mentioned tradition at home. Do it anywhere and peace seeps in eventually. Believe me!

Wishing you peace and happiness!!
